FAQs: Using MediaBids
How can MediaBids help my publication?
Every publication can use extra help with ad sales. MediaBids will help your ad staff locate new ad sources and streamline sales, all conveniently done from your desktop computer. No more cold calls or time wasted traveling from business to business. Sell ads two ways: through a Publication Offer, where you make space in your publication available to advertisers, or through an Advertiser Auction, where you tell advertisers how much ad space you will offer for the money they want to spend.

My sales staff is having problems generating new advertisers. Can MediaBids help?
MediaBids will open up new advertising sources previously inaccessible to you and your sales staff. You can bid on advertising dollars from businesses throughout your region, your state, and even the nation without ever leaving the office! -
I have plenty of advertisers using my paper but they take too long to pay, if at all. Can MediaBids help?
MediaBids guarantees payment for every ad sold through the site. In most cases your publication will be paid even before the ad runs. How can we do this? By charging advertisers at the end of each transaction. -
Why should I use MediaBids when I have a full-time sales staff?
Your sales staff cannot be everywhere at once. MediaBids can. Because MediaBids charges a low 8.5 percent commission for sales, you can afford to supplement your staff, and gain valuable information and leads in the process! -
Will I have to hire additional staff to use MediaBids?
Because MediaBids is easy to use and does all the work for you, your current sales staff can easily use it, incorporating it into their daily sales routine. -
What about registration fees?
It's absolutely free to register at MediaBids! Your publication is only charged when an ad is sold. -
How can my publication increase ad revenues without spending a lot of money?
There are no fees to use the site. The only cost to your publication is the 8.5 percent commission MediaBids deducts from the ad price before paying your publication. Your publication can bid on auctions or create its own offers to attract advertisers' attention. Or, you can take a more low-key approach and just ensure your publication's media kit is up to date and complete so advertisers will have no trouble finding you at MediaBids. -
Are all ads sold through MediaBids offered at a discount?
Each publication has to decide individually what works best. If you create a Publication Offer, you will set the parameters, including the ad's size, price and run date. Therefore, if you're uncomfortable going off your rate card, your offers don't need to include any discount. When you bid on an Advertiser Auction, you decide whether you want to discount your rates by the ad sizes and specifications offered in your bid. You're always in control of what you offer the advertiser. -
I have just started a small publication and do not have time or money to hire a sales staff. Can MediaBids help?
You don't need a sales staff to use MediaBids. Advertisers will locate your publication by searching the MediaBids database, and you can find advertisers online by offering ad space. All you need is Internet access. -
I'm the owner of a small newspaper in a market dominated by big players. How can MediaBids help me increase sales?
MediaBids allows advertisers to compare what each publication can offer. Once you've registered, potential advertisers can access your publication and compare it to others through your Media Kit. Advertisers who may have overlooked your publication before will give you a second look. -
What about the time involved in using the site?
Registration takes just a few minutes. Once you've registered your publication, you can either wait for e-mails that will let you know when an advertiser that matches your location and niche wants to buy ad space or you can be proactive by offering ad space or checking the web site daily for new ad auctions. -
Will new advertisers find my publication?

How does MediaBids direct advertisers to my offers?
